Course Objectives

Introduce and develop basic barista and hand-brewed coffee skills, and to bring across knowledge and understanding of how espresso machines & manual brewing equipment (V60) work.

Trainees will learn to make basic espresso drinks and hand-brewed coffee, across varied coffee preferences.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, trainees are able to:

  • Operate the espresso machine and grinder
  • Mastery of the basic skills for espresso extraction and milk frothing
  • Make Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino & Latte
  • Perform basic espresso calibration on espresso machine and grinder
  • Demonstrate the brewing procedure of V60
  • Understand the key brewing factors to coffee flavours
  • Clean and Basic Maintenance the espresso machine & brewing equipment

National Brewers Champion  

Chris has won prestigious awards and accolades under her belt.  She won the title as a Champion in the 2016 Malaysia Brewers Cup and represented Malaysia in the World Brewers Cup in Dublin. In 2014, Chris won an Outstanding Barista Award and was awarded the 3rd place in JWC The Factory 30 Latte Art Championship.  She also assisted as a roaster in the 3rd Global Barista Coffee Championship, of which the team emerged as Champion.

As an experienced and highly-qualified barista, roaster and academy lecturer in the coffee industry, Chris possesses a unique blend of expertise and passion in speciality coffee, coffee roasting, judging national coffee competitions and system building skills. Beyond this, Chris also has the experience of managing coffee academy in the aspects of management and education.

Chris has been an in-house coffee trainer, assessor and inspector in barista work performance, hygiene and operations in a reputable cafe organisation with several outlets for 4 years.  She is currently the Head Barista, Roaster and Trainer in Santino Coffee Specialists – a leading, reputable gourmet coffee supplier in Singapore and the region. Chris’ training expertise includes coffee lecturing; roasting; menu design and development; scheduling and organisation proficiency; budgeting and cost control; bar operations and sanitation.

Chris’ deep knowledge and impeccable brewing skills in the coffee industry have proven to be rich resources for her training sessions.

She holds certifications in SCAE Barista Skills Foundation and a Bachelor of Psychology.
